A mixed media presentation of images depicting the Gondwana Rainforest areas on the East Coast of Australia.
The aim is to draw attention to the ecological and world heritage importance of these disparate areas that in Australia are remnants of the original super continent including land masses of, India, Africa, South America, Arabia and Antarctica which were joined 600 million years ago.
The temperate rainforests of Gondwana are critical to the ecological history of Australia and the world, and, like the Great Barrier Reef, are World Heritage listed and threatened by encroaching environmental changes, climate change and fires.
This will be an ongoing project.
This first part highlights the forests of Dorrigo National Park and , in part, using ethereal figures walking into the landscape to emphasise our own immersive experience when entering this landscape.
Media
A unique combination of technique using pastel, pencil and charcoal on on original photographic fine art print images.
The aim is to immerse the viewer into the forest using techniques that create dimensionality that straight photography cannot create.
I will use large and medium sized canvasses enhanced, within the space, with original soundtracks for a fully immersible experience.
